"The Orchestra, performs one of the rare functions in music - they play as if they love the music AND each other and they give
life to the written page, the key element in expression...This band has a strong and unified center and a sense of the power and magic
that music can transmit" Bob Brookmeyer.
The Orchestra is a 17 piece Big Band, that features prominent Danish jazz musicians and composers. From The orchestra's debut performance
at the Montreux Jazz festival in 1991, the band have had a particular homogenous and transparent sound, that conveys the musicians dedication
to working as a unit - and to playing the often difficult music with the strongest possible conviction.
The different composers cover a very wide scope of musical concepts, ranging from groove-and melodic oriented approaches to inspiration
from contemporary classical composers. A common factor though, is an awareness and knowledge of the Big Band tradition. Most of the composers
have been part of the Bob Brookmeyer Composition Workshop in Copenhagen 1996-99.
The Orchestra has released 10 CD's and performed in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, UK and Switzerland. The band is supported by the
Danish Music Council.

The Orchestra + Trio Mio Plays the music of Peter Rosendal
this remarkable cooperation between two leading danish ensembles you hear a very special mix of folk music mixed with contemporary big band. The music is arranged by piano player Peter Rosendal and composed mainly by Trio Mio.
The music takes it starting point in the danish and swedish folk tradition and with composer and arranger Peter Rosendal adapting it to big band format, a very special and new sound and style evolves. Peter Rosendal's music has quite a nice, complex and strong personal feel and the music is strongly influenced by Rosendal's close ties and great love for Danish folk music
